Half the work of achieving your goals is in your mind. Those with a defeatist attitude will find it
very hard to pull themselves out of their rut and win their goals and ambitions. It really is true
what they say, “mind over matter.” If you set your mind to it, you can do just about anything.
Motivational speaker Zig Ziglar once said, “you were born to win, but to be a winner, you must
plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win.” You can’t expect to imagine yourself 30 pounds
lighter and then wake up the next day weighing less. What you can do, however, is imagine
yourself lighter, speak to yourself with more kindness, and put in the work to make it happen.
Bridge the gap between your inspiration and win by putting in the effort. I challenge you today
to write about what winning means to you today. Does it mean losing 30 pounds, or gaining 10
pounds of muscle? Does it mean beating heart disease, or incorporating more movement into
your everyday routine? Write it all down.
Then, put that vision to work. You shouldn’t expect to win and reach your goals by only writing
about them. Make a list of the things you need to get there. Then, bridge the gap. Begin taking
the journey toward your goal, and celebrate your wins. Plan to win at your goals. Prepare to
win at them, and expect to win. Then, make it happen!
