Today with us on the Incite Change Podcast, Coach Mauro sits down with his client and friend, Olivia Viele.
Olivia, who enjoyed dancing in her early years, noticed it was her main source of activity, after deciding to stop dancing in Gr. 9 to focus more on her academics. As she takes us through the beginning of her fitness journey which began one day when she decided she wanted to live better and be healthy.
Having previously been diagnosed with a fatty liver, even though her family and friends were encouraging her to take charge of her health and weight, Olivia had to decide for herself when she was ready. Having deciding to make a change during her final years in high school, she began with diet and moved on to a 60-day challenge which changed her perspective and increased her confidence.
Over the years, she has found that controlling her snacking and introducing protein into her diet along with her workouts were instrumental in progressing to her goal. Contrary to what everyone thinks, carbs are not bad, and your body has to have a healthy balance not only for bodily functions but also when you want to introduce strength training into your workout.
In closing, her advice to others getting into fitness is to ensure they are in the right mindset, do it for yourself and start by making small changes.
