Shattering Beliefs about Weightlifting with The Bombshell Project

In today’s episode of the Incite Change Podcast, Coach Mauro sits down with a friend, and founder of The Bombshell Project – Christina. She shares her unfiltered fitness journey, including all the highs and lows, and not just the highlight reel. They discuss the stigma around weightlifting for women and bodybuilding shows including how she got into fitness, and why she moved from Canada all the way to Australia.

The health and fitness journey for Christina has been a lifelong battle of wanting to fit in this perfect mold. She was a chubby kid and got picked on in her childhood years. Being 19, consuming a lot of fast food, and diagnosed with gallbladder stone, she had to choose between losing weight or getting surgery done.

Christina started training in her early 20s but with an ongoing crisis in her life, she made a promise to herself on her 30th birthday that she was going to be that girl on stage showing her work of 12 years – bodybuilding. She has been documenting her journey on Instagram, and inspiring other women to become the best version of themselves.

Her passion was traveling and adventure, so she sought opportunities and ended up in Australia. Staying in that new country and the pandemic had her motivated to get fit and healthy both physically and mentally; using gratitude and positive affirmation daily. She immersed herself in the body-building culture in Melbourne.

Fitness is more about health and mindset and getting in a really good space than it is eating certain foods and dieting a certain way. It is more about giving the body the nutrients it needs and not restricting your body. You can eat whatever you want as long as there is moderation. Remember to eat right, drink your water, eat your veggies.

For the mental part of fitness, Christina advises doing affirmations and having a run every day. This gives you space to think and gets you connected to your body.

It helps to readjust your perspective to everything and this snowballs into a lot of positive things for you.

Her story of the journey of fitness and health is inspiring as she influences others to get fit and stay healthy. “The key to change… is to let go of fear.” -Roseanne Cash
